Steve Champion (San Quentin Prison)
"San Quentin Prison Warden Kevin Chappell: Respond to prisoner Steve Champion's hunger strike demands constructively" by Diane Bukowski

Steve Champion is a death row prisoner at San Quentin, California. He began a hunger strike October 4, 2012, following up on previous hunger strikes conducted throughout the California prison system and in other states, which demand human rights for prisoners on death row, super-max facilities, and elsewhere throughout the U.S. prison systems. Over 2.5 million people are incarcerated in U.S. prisons, the highest number in the world, and daily subjected to inhuman conditions of solitary confinement, torture, long prison sentences, life without parole, and the death penalty. As human beings, we must demand an end to these conditions.
